Our History
Center Point Baptist Church was founded on March 8, 1953. Center Point was founded by the faith of a group of people chosen by God. The group consisted of members of the South Fork Baptist Church who had a vision to spread God’s word through the establishment of a new church for people to gather under the house of the Lord.
Establishment of Center Point began with a small group of believers who would join together, weekly, in prayer and testimony in a different home. From this dedication, members grew quickly which led to the construction of the new church. Services were held in the new building before it was completed. On the second Sunday of March, 1953, the Center Point Baptist Church was formally organized. Membership stood at 53 with several baptisms. Bro. Dan Parsons was moderator for the meeting, and George Blackmon led the pledge to the Church Covenant. The first pastor was J.W. Whitley.
Membership today stands at 120 and is steadily growing. Center Point Baptist Church would not exist without the founding members who dedicated their body and soul to Christ the Lord.
